Medicare Supplement Plans in PA

There are ten Medicare supplement plans in PA.  Understanding the plans will allow you to know exactly which of the PA Medicare supplement plans is the best for your needs.  To make understanding the plans we have put them into three groups.  The three groups of Pennsylvania Medicare supplement plans are:

Basic Medicare supplement plans in PA

All of these plans cover six or less of the nine coverage gaps

Plan A – Plan A offers the least amount of coverage of all the Pennsylvania Medicare supplement plans.  It covers the primary four gaps of Medicare Part A coinsurance, Medicare Part B coinsurance, hospice care coinsurance or copayment, and the first three pints of blood in the need for a transfusion.

Plan B – A small step up from Plan A.  Plan B only adds coverage for the Medicare Part A deductible of $1,187 per benefit period.

Plan K – One of the two PA Medicare supplement plans that include an out of pocket limit.  Plan K will cover everything that Plan D (see below) does except for a foreign travel emergency.  For the other gaps that it covers Plan K will pay 50% of the charges until you reach your out-of-pocket limit of $4,640.

Plan L –  One of the two Pennsylvania Medicare supplement plans that include an out of pocket limit.  Plan L will cover everything that Plan D (see below) does except for a foreign travel emergency.  For the other gaps that it covers Plan K will pay 75% of the charges until you reach your out-of-pocket limit of $2,320.

Moderate Medicare Supplement Plans in PA

Plan D – The first of what we think of the Moderate PA Medicare supplement plans.  Part D adds coverage for skilled nursing care coinsurance and foreign travel emergencies to Plan B.

Plan M – Offers the same coverage as Plan D except that it only covers 50% of the Medicare Part A deductible.

Plan N – Also offers the same coverage as Plan D except that there is copayment of $20 for some office visits and up to $50 for emergency room coverage.

Comprehensive Medicare supplement Plans in PA

Plan F – The most comprehensive of the PA Medicare supplement plans.  Plan F covers all nine of the gaps you find in Medicare plans.

Plan C – Covers everything that Plan F does except for any excess charges that are above the Medicare Part B excess charges.

Plan G – Covers everything that Plan F does except for any excess charges that are above the Medicare Part B deductible of $147.
